aSpinner

New: we introduce the new feature: Places!
aSpinner is a tiny Android app simulating a 3D spinner. You can customize the wheels by setting texts or put pictures. If you will, you can share the wheels with others via Internet. In this blog we introduce the usage briefly as follows.

If you select the “Wheels” menu on the main screen (Figure 1.),then you will go to the UI for the management of the wheels. On the UI, you can select the “new” menu to create a new wheel. For sure, you can also delete or share (see below) the wheels on the UI.

To customize the graphic scheme (i.e. background-color, text-color, text and picture) of the wheel, you select the wheel and double click on the option to be editted on the wheel, and then you will see the edit UI depicted on Figure 3 (left). To change the photo, please click on the photo button! (Figure 3 right)

2. Wizard
aSpinner provides the wizard to create the wheels quickly by using the camera. To launch the wizard, please click the “wizard” menu on the main screen (Figure 1.). It should be easy and obvious for you to understand how the wizard works.

3. Share
You can upload or download the wheels via network. To upload wheels, you can click the blue “share” button on the “wheels management” UI. You will see the “upload” dialog depicted in Figure 5. Optionally with the username and passowrd you can protect your wheels from being edit by others. Furthermore, if you define the wheel as “private”, the wheel can be accessed by yourself.

To download wheels, you can click the “Online resources” on the main screen (Figure 1) and then on the dialog (Figure 6) you can browse and download the wheels published by yourself or others.

4. Drag the arrow or the bottle
You can drag the arrow or the bottle by long pressing it until it is hightlighted (Figure 7).

5. Unlock the wheel
When a wheel is unlocked (Figure 8 left), the hit option will be filtered out in the next round (Figure 8 right). The original wheel can be restored again via the “restore” button (Figure 8 left).

6. The shortcut buttons
The shortcut buttons on the main screen provide some useful features (Figure 9 from left to right):

  • Keep the screen on;
  • Show or hide the wheel;
  • Fullscreen;

7. The magic {word}
The word(s) encapsulated in the first pair of braces will be replaced with the hit option. For instance, if the title reads “{Who} is on duty today?” and “Ting” is hit in the round, then the app will read “Ting is on duty today” as the result.
